My Top 14 Favorite Songs

Third Day

I understand that it’s supposed to be a top 10 list, but there’s no way I can limit the list to just 10. Well, I guess there is a way, but I don’t want to.

Actually, there should be more than 14 on the list, but I decided to stop thinking about it at 14. I guess to do song favorites justice, I’ll have to break it into genres, groups, and maybe even decades and/or years someday.

I Will Stand By You—Rascal Flatts

This song stands for me as the anthem for the April 27th tornadoes in Alabama. It should also be a comfort for anyone going through trials and troubles.

This Is Your Life—Switchfoot

I LOVE this song. “This is your life–are you who you want to be? What a question! What if we all lived our lives with this question in mind?

Summertime—Kenny Chesney

Right now, I’m glad that summertime is over, but Kenny’s song always makes me smile and sing out loud. Love it!

You Save Me—Kenny Chesney

DH is the one who saves me. I would have no balance in my life without him.

If I Die Young—The Band Perry

At this point, this I almost have a love/hate relationship with this song. When I wake up in the middle of the night, I hear, “If I die young, bury me in satin, lay me down on a bed of roses . . . .” I love the song, but it needs to leave my brain song loop for awhile.

Jesus Freak—DC Talk

DC Talk is one of my all time favorite bands, and I still haven’t recovered from their breaking up. I have most of their CDs, so I should compile a top 10 or 20 list of their songs. Everything in this song is fantastic.

Revelation—Third Day

I love Third Day even more than I love DC Talk. I’m pretty sure I have 95% of their CDs. I can sing every song by heart, and all of them speak to me. On a scale of 1-10, Third Day gets a 10 every time.

Revelation Song—Phillips, Craig, and Dean

We sang this in church on Sunday. Revelation Song is my favorite worship song, hands down.

Wire—Third Day

“Oh, it makes me wonder
What if I slip, will they catch me
Or watch me fall?”

Awesome lyrics.

Yesterday—The Beatles

I was totally in love with Paul McCartney when I was a little girl. John was weird, Ringo was ugly, and George, well, he was George. I was pretty sure I was going to marry Paul if only he would get rid of that Jane girl. Then, he married Linda. Darn.

Remember When—Alan Jackson

DH and I cry almost every time we hear this song. Dear Lord, where does time go?

Will You Go With Me—Josh Turner

Now this is a strange song for me. I love it, and sing happily along with it in the car. However, if I watch the video, I cry like a baby every time. That scene at the end does me in.

Legs—ZZ Top

Oh my, how I love the guitars in this song. Killer.

Addicted To Love—Robert Palmer

“Might as well face it you’re . . . ” Palmer all decked out and weird guitar-playing girls in the background. What’s not to love?

Almost anything by Brad Paisley

I understand that this is 15, but truly, I love most of Brad Paisley’s songs–that is Whiskey Lullaby and later. You must understand that I’m a johnny-come-lately to the country music scene. It had to start sounding like rock-n-roll before I would convert. I grew up listening to ’50s and ’60s country, and vowed I would NEVER listen to George Jones again! I’m still amazed that I will listen to country music!

So there you have it–my Top 14 + Brad Paisley songs.
